Rainy Day (and a Pattern for Soft Trees)

I should have remembered to include the link for the soft trees pattern in the last post. Sorry about that. You can find it here. I'll be honest, though -- I followed it loosely. I didn't actually print out the pattern, but made my own instead. I made trees of a few shapes and sizes and found that the skinny trees don't stand up on their own very well, no matter how many beans you put at the bottom to weigh them down. Also, if I was making them again (which I fully intend to do next year), I would buy embroidery thread and stitch the bottoms so that the stitches show, rather than use a slip stitch. If you make them, let me know! It's been dark and rainy here. Again. The lamp has been on in the living room during the day. I've thought a lot about people in Alaska who don't see daylight for months at a time. I guess if you knew to expect it, it would be different. This is just miserable.

Apparently the sun will shine tomorrow.

We're more or less ready for Christmas. A few cards wait to be signed and sent off. Lily's hat is almost done, and I think it's really going to fit this time. I wrapped a the few gifts that will sit beneath our tree. Par for the course, I guess. Mostly I find myself admiring our decorations and the twinkle of the lights, and singing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" over and over to Lily. She likes the ho-ho-hos. I do, too.

Laura, thank you for the lovely compliments. My home life is just as messy as anyone's, I swear. It's just easy to disguise it here. ;)

About the book list, I'll be honest that I lifted some of it from other people as well. I guess we're all guilty of that.
