Motherhood, Writing, and Vocation

I have an essay today in The Curator on motherhood, writing, and vocation. Motherhood is one of those things that's hard to talk about. It's different for each woman, and it's up to each of us to figure out the rhythm and routine that works best. I by no means have it all figured out, but I've learned a lot about myself in the past months about who I am and what my life's work is. And this is it: to take care of Lily and to write.

What I love about all of it is that becoming a mother is so different for everyone. Priorities change, perspective changes, but some things stay the same no matter what, like who we are as people. Being a mother shouldn't require total abandonment of everything non-mommy related, and there must be a way to integrate it all. And I'm on the long journey of figuring out what that means for me.

I'm reading The Screwtape Letters too. The description of hell is just like my school.
Being a mom is the greatest adventure!
I'm still figuring it out.
